Engaged: Luke and Hannah {DFW Wedding Photographer}

Hannah and Luke are getting married later this summer. I'm thrilled to be their wedding photographer and am looking forward to creating beautiful memories of their special day.

Hannah currently lives in Honduras where she has served as a teacher at Rancho Ebenezer for the past four years. Rancho Ebenezer is a ministry of the World Gospel Outreach that houses, feeds, and educates more than 40 Honduran children.

Luke traveled to Honduras with his family on a short-term mission trip in 2010. To help meet the growing needs of the facility, Luke later returned to Honduras to serve as a volunteer High School teacher on a one-year contract.

During that time, Luke and Hannah's relationship blossomed.

Which brings us to today.

Luke is now back in the DFW area where he has been working and eagerly awaiting their wedding day. Luke and Hannah plan to make their home together here in the states once they are married.

I had the privilege of meeting up with both of them about two weeks ago when Hannah traveled home to shop for wedding dresses and do a little wedding planning with her mom. I had a wonderful time getting to know them over lunch while we discussed the photography details for their wedding day.

A lovely couple, for sure.

Since our lunch together, Hannah and I have been able to continue sharing wedding ideas through our Pinterest boards. I pin ideas I think she'll be interested in. She repins what she likes and shares her own pins with me. Though her internet access is limited in Honduras, it's been a great resource for casting a vision for her wedding photography dreams. It's always exciting to to see what she comes up with!

Can I just say, I love Pinterest!

On a personal note...

I love working with couples who share my faith! I love knowing that they are honoring the Lord in their wedding day decisions. I love knowing that their marriage will be centered around Christ's love for them and the love He commands a husband and wife to share with one another. There is a deeper connect. I'm not just photographing a wedding. I'm photographing a sacred moment in their lives.

I tear up every time.

I also love it when I discover that I have something in common with the couples I work with. Not many people know this here in Texas, but I too used to live on a mission field. When I was a young child, my parents were dorm parents to 40 Navajo Indian girls at Rehoboth Christian School in Rehoboth, New Mexico. That experience helped shaped me into the person that I am today. It gave me an appreciation for the needs of others and a love for people of different cultures. My parents' work there was a great model to me of what it means to serve the Lord and put the needs of others before our own.

In today's world, it is rare to find young people who center their lives around meeting the needs of others - young people who understand what it means to live sacrificially. To serve. To love. To give.

It is even more rare to find young people who sincerely and diligently look to God as they make plans for their future - young people who are willing to go where He leads them...wherever that may be.

What an honor to know that this couple does!

Thank you for all you do, Hannah, and for what you've done, Luke, to help make this world a better place for these precious Honduran children. I look forward to hearing about where God takes you and how he will use you to bless others in the future.

See you in Ft. Worth in July on your wedding day!

...and on Pinterest, Hannah (when your internet connection allows).

Engaged: Stacie and Tim {Chicago Wedding Photographer}{Dallas Wedding Photographer}

Chicago is one of my absolute favorite cities in the states! While I was working on my Bachelor degree, I lived in the heart of downtown for several years. It's full of life, friendly people, wonderful food, amazing art, and beautiful architecture.

Since moving to Texas in 1997, I really miss Chicago and always look forward to going back home for a visit. You can bet a trek into downtown is always on the itinerary when we do.

A couple weekends ago I found myself heading into the city for a very special reason: Stacie and Tim's engagement session. Stacie is my cousin Bonnie's daughter. It was so much fun getting to know Stacie's fiance during their session. He's such a great guy!

(FYI: I love all my cousins, but any cousin that has taken the time to visit me in Texas has a very special place in my heart!)

I'm so proud of these two! Stacie is the sweetest girl you could ever meet, and she's a brilliant nurse. Tim is a business manager and aspiring paramedic who volunteers at a fire station. They will be married this July, and I'm just so excited to be shooting their wedding!!!

Congratulations, you two!

On to their engagement session...

If you've been following my blog, you'll recall that I love shooting in the bright sunlight. This day was NOT my day in that regard. Rarely did the sun peak out. It was a cold, dismal, dreary, cloudy, grey Chicago day.

At least love was in the air!

My favorite light of the day? Inside the coffee shop (where we stopped to warm up and thaw out).

And of course, it wouldn't be a Chicago session without a cool urban alley, now, would it? The silhouette was taken earlier in day. Love that shot!

Thanks for a great session, Stacie and Tim - especially for putting up with the cold. I can't wait for the wedding!

I also wanted to give a special shout-out to my wonderful husband, Steve, who came along to help out. As you can see below, he helped us take full advantage of the sun every time it did peak out (if only for a couple minutes). He even had some fun posing suggestions. See that ladder in the second picture at the top. He wanted Stacie and Tim to climb down there. (Crazy enough. That would have ROCKED!)

Here he is working the reflector:

Looking back, seeing as my husband is a native Texan (i.e. he does not handle the cold very well), and that he had just driven 14.5 hours straight from Texas to Indiana the day before; perhaps I should have just let him hang out at the Planetarium for the day (as he later suggested).

Maybe next time...

Sure do appreciate you, dear! You do great work!

Bethany & Josh: Engagement Session {Dallas,TX Engagement Photography}{Dallas,TX Wedding Photography}

I finally got to meet Bethany's other half this weekend. Josh and Bethany are getting married over Thanksgiving on a cruise ship. It fits their fun relationship perfectly, don't you think? And any guy who doesn't mind being "trapped" on a cruise ship with his Bride's family is a keeper for sure.

I decided to start their session out with a little "boot skoot boogie" to set the mood for a fun and carefree session. It worked like a charm. They let loose for sure! I'm thrilled to have captured them just being them. And can I just say this: What fun to photograph a couple who isn't afraid of a little PDA!

Best wishes for a wonderful wedding and new life together as husband and wife, Josh and Bethany.

Enjoy your sneak peak, guys! Your gallery will be up this evening.
